Woodworking Basics - Dimensioning Lumber

Instructor: Duncan MacLeod

Dimensioning lumber is an essential part of creating beautiful and functional things out of wood.  In this class, students will work with the four primary power tools used in the shop for dimensioning: jointer, planer, table saw, and mitre saw (aka chop saw).  Discussion of material type, lumber lingo, wood grain, wood flaws, efficient use of materials, safe use of tools, and other considerations will be included.  Each student will take a piece of rough-cut lumber through the dimensioning process, creating pieces that are ready to be used in a project.
