Your student will be introduced to a wide variety of art media during this 8 week art class.  The teacher will show examples, talk or show the historical context where artists have used this media, and demonstrate how they can use the material to create their own art work.  A practical problem will be assigned, and the students will work on it in the classroom setting with teacher guidance.

In most cases, a second assignment will be given to the students to be completed by the beginning of the next class meeting.  This second assignment will be completed during the next week (homework), and returned for critique at the beginning of the next class session.  We will spend our opening ten minutes looking at everyone's work, and learning the courtesies of positive critique techniques

Your student will have the opportunity to learn more about using specialized art materials, such as clay, acrylic paint, and printmaking materials through this class.

Your materials fee will make it possible for the purchase of these materials by Yakima Maker Space.  This class is an introduction to the wonderful creative world of fine arts.

Students will be provided homework to do during the month of September that they can turn in for evaluation by the instructor in October.  This optional assignments will be emailed to all registrants before Sept 1.

A supply list for each child will be emailed upon registration.  These supplies are for the child to bring to class and to use at home for homework.

Recommended for ages 10+

 Cost:  $120 + $30 material fee
